Custom web application development: engineers shipping an operator tool in the client cloud account

Custom web applications

Custom web application development for UK and USA mid-market firms.

Internal tools, operator dashboards, and the API layer between two systems that were never meant to talk — not a pitch deck.

In short

Velosius designs and builds custom web applications for UK and USA mid-market firms. The app lives in your cloud account. The first pathway is live in 90 days, with monitoring, rollback, and a handover your team can extend.

Who this is for

Operators who already know the workflow — merchandising, claims, plant close, clinical admin — and need a tool people will open on Monday.

We will not rebuild a SaaS product that already covers 80 percent of the job, and we will not keep the work in our tenancy.

When a custom web application is the right build

Buy the packaged product when it already covers the workflow. Build when the process is the business: pricing rules, a claims queue, a plant close, or an internal tool that has quietly become a spreadsheet. The first call is often a recommendation not to build.

A useful application has one owner and one Monday-morning job. A merchandiser changing a price, an adjuster opening a file, a planner confirming a batch. If the page cannot name that person and that job, it is a brochure.

What “in your cloud account” means

The application runs in your AWS, Azure, or GCP account, behind your identity provider. Environments, CI, logs, and the audit trail stay with you. We do not host the production system in a Velosius tenancy and hand you a login.

Residency and peak load are constraints, not footnotes. If customer or patient data is in scope, the design starts from where the data is allowed to live and who can see a record, not from a framework preference.

How the first pathway is cut

Weeks 1–2 name the workflow, the owner, and the number that will show it worked. Weeks 3–6 ship the thinnest slice in your account: identity, an environment, and the path an operator can click. Weeks 7–10 put it in front of those operators and watch errors, latency, and the rollback. Weeks 11–12 leave runbooks and access so the next slice does not need us in the room.

What the first 90 days leave you

  • One named workflow, one business owner, one measurable outcome
  • Build in your AWS, Azure, or GCP account with your identity provider
  • Monitoring, rollback, and a runbook your operators can use
  • Handover so the next slice does not need a permanent bench

A US retailer had inventory in one system and the storefront in another. We connected the two with an API layer and a personalisation engine the merchandising team could run themselves. Field note: ecommerce ERP integration.

FAQ

Before you brief us

Is this custom web application development or a staffed bench?

Custom web application development. You speak to the named engineers on the programme. Velosius is not a body shop.

Where does the application run?

In your cloud account. Identity, data, and audit stay with you. If a vendor insists the work stays in their tenancy, you are renting a black box.

What ships in the first 90 days?

One live pathway: the thinnest vertical slice operators will actually use, with monitoring and a rollback — not a multi-year platform rewrite.

Next step

Fifteen minutes is enough.

Send the workflow, the systems it must touch, and the constraint you cannot break. We will say build, buy, or stop.
